A Million Year Old Tooth Found

Okay this isn’t about elearning, but I just discovered it while elearning and think it’s fascinating.

From the Discovery Channel News: Spanish researchers this past Friday claim that they have found a human tooth that is appx. 1.2 million years old. WHAT!?! The fossil was found in Atapuerca Sierra in the northern province of Burgos. In 1994 similar fossils at a nearby site were discovered dating back 800,000.

Bermudez de Castro, one of three paleontologists leading the expedition says, “For the time being we have no idea what species but there is no doubt, from the (geological) level where the tooth was found, that it belonged to the oldest European found to date.”
