After my pleading to my friend Kathy to keep her new blog up regarding her upcoming trip India. I was so pleased to see today that it is still alive and well. It’s going to be a long journey not only once she is there, but just the process it has taken her to be allowed to go and to soothe her family and friends into understanding and believing that it is what she “needs” to do.

So in searching for some information on the history of blogging I came across Tim O’Reilly’s:
Call for a Bloggers Code of Conduct. Some of the beginning and developing points are:

  1. Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.
  2. Label your tolerance level for abusive comments..
  3. Consider eliminating anonymous comments.
  4. Ignore the trolls.
  5. Take the conversation offline, and talk directly, or find an intermediary who can do so.
  6. If you know someone who is behaving badly, tell them so.
  7. Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person.

I think these points are well worth reading upon to see his expanded definitions. Not only are they great ideas to act upon in the blogging world, but can be transferred into the corporate boardroom, classroom, and basically any place where people come together to generate thoughts, ideas and collaboration.
